The First Week.

Well Well, the time had come. The last trailer was filled and the cats were loaded into there carriers, we were leaving our 3500 sq ft Parade of Homes home and heading to the lake to live in a combination of two trailers, ( a new used fifth wheel for us and our 1996 28ft Dutchmen for the boys (our kitties)). How lucky are they?

Day one was fairly uneventful, mostly felt like we were here and getting ready for a camping weekend. Not counting the getting the trailers ready and unloading the flatbed. The boys were really weirded out the first night, Angus didn't leave the cat tower the entire first day, Maui was kinda nonchalant about the whole thing.

Day two "Friday"went allot like day one did. We still had allot to unpack, not feeling as much like we are camping anymore. So much more work than usual, we are spreading more gravel, blocking off some of the ATV trails as well as walking trails. Speaking of walking, we are walking every morning and enjoying that. The boys are doing better, still sleeping all day as usual.
We did go down and see the PFers and Ray and Linda and told them we were going to live here for the summer, had a great reaction from them all, (Holy S*** what do you mean) I will fill you all in on the road and the other camping groups later on.

Day three, this was an exciting day for us. Direct TV was coming out to install the satellite woo hoo. Still though we come back to the reality that we are living here now and need to get things figured out, like adding allot of water to the trailer at a time, will add pics soon, (sorry) as well as food storage and laundry etc. So the TV guy came and it went well, TV in 3 rooms, well two TVs are in the same room and one is our big flat screen. ;-)

Day four is the day I really have started trying to figure this whole water thing out, I could siphon only so far down the 55 gallon water tanks I have, you know the big blue ones. So I had to make a funnel and pour the water into a 5 gallon jug and then pour it into the funnel which in turn filled the trailer. Not the funnest thing to do but funny because Teresa was holding the funnel and I soaked her a few times. Oh, about water. I went into town and found that you can get a water card for $30 a month and use up to 8000 gallons a month, didn't use that much in our house in West Jordan (WJ). I have a future story on day 7 about the water filling station, wow that sucked.

Day five for me was not all that great, I went back to WJ to fill, "all right" our last trailer of stuff. I did have a trailer and truck full still in the garage of the old house. As it turns out about a load the same size for the dump. After the filling of the stuff, I headed over to Chari's house (our daughter) to do some more work on her house. It wont be so easy for that to happen for a while and or forever, depending on were we end up for the winter. That will be an extension of this blog. After doing some work and some email and KSL searches for water barrels (250 gallon or larger, anyone) I headed home. Wow, headed home... how surreal. Whatever you do, don't drive from Salt Lake to Duchesne at dusk, unless you are very good at playing dodge the deer. Turns out, I'm pretty good at it.

Day six was also a good day, INTERNET arrives just after our walk, again Woo Hoo. I don't know how we could do it without TV and Internet. After the Internet guy left and we played a little bit, we went back to work on the property. We put up the screen tent and did some more clean up of the rocks and trails. Those friends that have been to our property may or may not like the changes. Only one way in and one way out of the ATV trail system, over near the shed. We do want to keep it nice and clean now that we are here full time. We did do a little riding ourselves today, found that the trail to the Blue Lagoon is open for ATVs again. Yeah. For how long is yet to be seen. It is feeling like we are starting to get the hang of it.

Day seven, well this has been a fun day so far. Yep, the water story. So we go to town, (Duchesne, about 9 miles from the property) and run a few errands, check the PO Box, get Tease a fishing licence, a few items from Kohls, (the little hardware store). And then the big moment, we go to the water fill up station and we try to figure out how this thing works. You slide your card and flip the switch is what I was told. Well, the water in that thing comes out a 3" pipe and at about 100 gallons a minute. So there I am with a 55 gallon tank with a 2.5" hole in the top. Do I need say more, oh I do? Ok I will, more water in the truck and on the ground and myself then in the tank. Back to the hardware store, 3" PVC pipe with the expanded end still on the pipe and back to the water station to try it again, more water in the tank, however much more water on the Scott as well. That was kind of funny, I am still trying to figure out what to do. Again if anyone has a large storage tank that they are looking to sell, for a good price of course. Let me know. I will continue on as the day ends.
